Confirmation

Because I am baptized I will live among God’s faithful people, hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper, proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, serve all people, following the example of Jesus, and strive for justice and peace in all the earth…. and I ask God to help and guide me

ELW, Affirmation of Baptism pg 236

Youth for generations have affirmed the gift of the Holy Spirit working in their lives through the ministry of Confirmation. Often a right of passage, once confirmed, disciples are considered “adult” members of the congregation. We take the approach to confirmation that we are to affirm the gifts the spirit has given them and help them discern where they feel God is calling them to serve the church and the world in need.

Over the years it has had many formats and methods of instruction, but the basis in Lutheran communities has been the teachings of Martin Luther contained in his Small Catechism. Here at St. Mark’s we focus on three areas; bible, Small Catechism and daily discipleship practices. We offer our program over three years with varying requirements to complete as disciples progress towards their confirmation.

Currently our class is meeting on Sunday mornings following worship. If you would like to have your youth begin the confirmation process, please speak with Pastor.
